We would like to rent a powerboat with a large horsepower engine suitable
for waterskiing or sightseeing on Lake George. Where can we rent a boat like this?
Contact Werner's Marina
in Sabbath Day Point (across the lake from Huletts) at 518-543-8866 or Chick's Marina
in Bolton Landing at 518-644-2170. Remember if you rent a boat you will need to
make arrangements to rent a dock space to keep it at.
We would like to take a cruise up Lake George instead of renting a boat.
Are their any large tour boats which we can take a cruise up the Lake on?
The Lake George Steamboat
Co. in Lake George Village (45 minutes away) offers a variety of
cruises on different boats. They can be contacted at: 800-553-2628.
We love to fish. What should we know about fishing on Lake George?
Lake George has some of the greatest sport fishing in the Northeast. Land-locked
salmon, small mouth bass, lake trout and rainbow trout are all one cast away!
Bait shops are conveniently located about 20 minutes away in Whitehall. You
will need to purchase a fishing license though from NY State. This is strictly
enforced.
We want to go hiking. Can you recommend a really good trail?
Black Mountain is the tallest mountain on Lake George. There are two trails up the
mountain maintained by New York State. One starts from the lake side
(only accessible by boat) the other begins from the land side. Huletts is
only 10 minutes away from either of these trails. The hike takes about an hour each
way but the view from the top is unbelievable! You won't be disappointed.
On a rainy day if our family wants to go to a mall or see a movie where are
the closest malls located?
The closest malls and cinemas are: a.) Aviation Mall in Glens Falls
(45 minutes away) or b.) the new Rutland Mall in Rutland, Vermont
(45 minutes away).
We understand that there are no real grocery stores in Huletts.
Where is the nearest shopping for food?
We recommend that you either stop in Whitehall (if you are coming from the South)
or Ticonderoga (if you are coming from the North) to do your grocery shopping before
you arrive in Hulett's. While the Soda Fountain has small essentials like milk and
bread, you will need to stock up on groceries before you come over the mountain to
Huletts.
We hear there are no televisions in your cottages. Why not?
Remember that Huletts Landing is surrounded by the Adirondack Mountains. A
regular TV antenna on top of a house is only able to pick up one television
channel because of the mountains. We've found that with the natural beauty of
the area, you should be able to forget about television while you're at
Huletts-on-Lake-George. It is possible to live without television. Trust us on this
one.
We understand that some of your cottages do not have phones.
